In 2005, Beckham founded the David Beckham Academy football school, operating from two sites in London and in Los Angeles, California.

The mission of the David Beckham Academy is to provide excellence in pursuit of soccer development. The Academy offers youth soccer summer camps, targeted to players of all ability levels, ages 8 to 15. The David Beckham Academy is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young aspiring soccer players. Every camper will come away accepting the importance of hard work, healthy living, team concepts and will understand the importance of having fun every time they step on the soccer field.

The David Beckham Academy camp curriculum was written by the famed Manchester United FC Youth coach Eric Harrison, who produced superstar David Beckham along with the richly talented Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Philip, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt. Every camper will perform the same soccer drills that David Beckham and his coaching staff did as youth players. Nationally recognized training partner, Athletes' Performance will also have a strong presence at both the three and five day camps.

Beckham and the camp staff will put each soccer player through a variety of assessments in which speed, agility and strength are tested. After examining each player's strengths and weaknesses, the staff will then create a plan to maintain and improve each player's game.
